    SPECIE NAME:Mikrogeophagus ramirezi

COMMON NAME OF THE SPECIE: Ram Cichlid

LOCATION: The ram cichlid, is a species of freshwater fish endemic to the Orinoco River basin, in the savannahs of Venezuela and Colombia in South America.

HABITAT: They occur in streams as well as pools and ponds that are often very shallow, with sandy or muddy bottoms and some vegetation. They will feed by sifting the fine substrate for plant material and small organisms. They will also feed on organisms in the water and sometimes at the surface.

SIZE: UP TO 5 CM. UPTO 0.05 KG

DIET: The Ram Cichlid is an omnivore whose diet in the wild consists of plant material and small organisms.

FACT: The Ram Cichlid is a very peaceful fish and is one of a select few cichlids that can be kept in a true community tank, including a tank with non-cichlids. This fish is 'more bark than bite' and will not do well in an aggressive tank. They make a good inhabitant for a community tank with fish of a similar temperament.

    SPECIE NAME:Apistogramma agassizii

COMMON NAME OF THE SPECIE: Agassiz's dwarf cichlid

LOCATION: Found in Brazil and Amazon river.

HABITAT: They inhabit clear, black and white waters that are still or slow-moving. These include tributaries, backwaters and creeks that are often strewn with leaf litter, apparently feeding mostly on benthic invertebrates. Both the litter and time of year can affect the type of water.

SIZE: UP TO 7 CM. UPTO 0.05 KG

DIET: The Agassizi Cichlid is an omnivore, but with a strongly carnivorous diet in the wild, feeding mostly on benthic invertebrates

FACT: Cichlids have one nostril on each side while other fish have 2 sets. To sense "smells" in the water, they suck water in and expel the water right back out after being "sampled" for a short or longer time, depending on how much the cichlid needs to "smell" the water.

    SPECIE NAME:Herotilapia multispinosa

COMMON NAME OF THE SPECIE: Rainbow Cichlid

LOCATION: Occurs in eastern Honduras and throughout Nicaragua and Costa Rica.

HABITAT: They inhabit small lakes, ponds, drainage and swamp areas with muddy bottoms where they dwell among submerged logs, tangled roots, and leaf litter. They are tolerant of high temperatures and can survive in small bodies of water during dry periods.

SIZE: UP TO 17 CM. UPTO 0.05 KG

DIET: The Rainbow Cichlid is an omnivore and is a ready and eager eater. They will eat prepared foods including tubifex, freeze-dried bloodworms, ocean plankton, and floating food sticks. Feed a vegetable based flake as well.

FACT: The Rainbow Cichlid  is said to be the smallest of the Central American Cichlids.

    SPECIE NAME:Mikrogeophagus altispinosus

COMMON NAME OF THE SPECIE: Bolivian Butterfly

LOCATION: The Bolivian Ram originates in the South American countries of Bolivia and Brazil.

HABITAT: They occur in streams, pools, and lagoons with dense vegetation and submerged branches and roots that offers shaded areas and plenty of hiding places. They mostly inhabit the mid and bottom regions and feed by sifting the fine substrate for plant material and small organisms. They will also feed on organisms in the water and sometimes at the surface.

SIZE: UP TO 9 CM. UPTO 0.05 KG

DIET: The Bolivian Ram is an omnivore with a diet in the wild that consists of benthic detritus containing seeds and fruits, along with aquatic and land plants.

FACT: They are smart enough to recognize one person as their owner and will begin to beg for food everytime you walk by!
